Sticks and Stones
Jasmine Baksh

Stick and Stones is a solo presentation by NYC and New Jersey based artist Jasmine Baksh. Jasmine’s autobiographical sculptures are inspired by her own memories and experiences dealing with her past. Her selection of common objects she chooses to sculpt are drawn directly from her memory as she manipulates their function to create a new meaning.

About the Artist

Jasmine Baksh (b. 1995 in Richmond Hill, Queens) is an Indo-Caribbean conceptual artist. Jasmine’s upbringing has shaped her work into autobiographical and confessional art. Her sculptures highlight themes such as domestic violence, hidden emotions and unstable households. She plays with visual puns to get her point across to her viewers in a simple, yet evocative manner. Baksh holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Baksh will have her first solo viewing exhibition at Chashama entitled, Sticks and Stones.
