Music on the March
The Dream Unfinished Orchestra
The Dream Unfinished presents Music on the March: a city-wide, socially-distanced, simultaneously live and virtual concert which empowers New Yorkers to get out the vote in their communities. Featuring music from the 1963 March on Washington and non-partisan information on civic engagement in the upcoming November election. Music On The March will take place simultaneously in venues across all five boroughs of New York City culminating in a synchronous city-wide performance of “We Shall Overcome” for musicians and audience, arranged by Jannina Norpoth. Confirmed partners include DemocracyNYC, ChaShaMa, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, Wave Hill and the Brooklyn Public Library.
This event is invitation-only, and follows all city, state, and federal guidelines regarding public gatherings and social distancing.
About the Orchestra
The Dream Unfinished is an activist orchestra whose mission is to use classical music as a platform to engage audiences in dialogues surrounding social and racial justice. TDU has people of color in the orchestra, in the music, behind the scenes, and in the audiences. We are an orchestra that looks and sounds like New York City, and through music, we explore pressing social issues affecting our communities.
