SCOPE Pavilion (2012)

Scope Art Show

March 7 – March 11, 2012

Following the tremendous success of its Miami edition, SCOPE Art Show returned to New York City for the eleventh year, with an exciting, high-profile location across from The Armory Show, on the site of the former chashama 57th Street Studios.

The 35,000 square foot pavilion with its dramatic glass box entrance on 57th Street and 12th Ave hosted SCOPE’s flagship fair, SCOPE New York, featuring over 50 international galleries and museum-quality programming that highlighted groundbreaking, emerging work in contemporary art and beyond. SCOPE New York’s First View took place on March 7, 2012, with proceeds benefitting chashama.

chashama’s SCOPE booth featured work by Nathan Wasserbauer and Sun You, both being studio artists in our Brooklyn Army Terminal space, which provides work space for 100 artists at subsidized rates.

In addition to highlighting the two featured artists, chashama challenged all of our studio artists to create a new work on a 12 x 12 canvas. 72 canvases, displayed in two grids, were presented as part of chashama’s SCOPE booth. Every work was for sale at a set price of $300, and only when purchased would the name of the creator be revealed. Proceeds from pieces sold were to be shared between the contributing artist and chashama.
