chashama 113 (TIXE)
TIXE 113
113 West 42nd Street
Before the final demolition of the former “Maidman” building, chashama acquired this one-and-a-half floor remnant as an multi-purpose venue. Its name was inspired by the spelling of the illuminated exit sign over the door as seen from outside the venue.
Programming spanned from July 30, 2003 through February 27, 2004, and included over 45 separate exhibits, installations, window installations, performances, events, special events and studio residencies.
Our tenue concluded with a festive and friendly “de-constructing” of the space by artists, friends, and passersby on February 29, 2004.
