Elizabeth Harney was born on a military base in Enid, Oklahoma. She grew up on bases all across the nation before finally settling in New Jersey. As someone who was raised on America’s paternalistic mythologies which romanticize the archetype of the protector, she plays with desire for this mythos and deconstructs its influence on the ethics of sanctioned violence. Elizabeth is currently a Key Holder at the Lower East Side Printshop. In 2013 she received her BFA from New Jersey City University and in 2014 she was a participant at Skowhegan School of Painting and Drawing. She received her MFA at Hunter College in 2019.
