Charles George Esperanza

Born the second of six kids. The South Bronx is where he first opened his eyelids. A land shrouded in bright colored decay, the birthplace of graffiti and the hip-hop DJ! He paints fantasy worlds of elephants, and castles too! Accompanying this wonder is some whimsical truth. Charles has a voice that is seldom heard. A fusion of jazz, distorted guitars, and chirping birds. Author and illustrator of Red, Yellow, Blue and a dash of White too!  Charles is currently working on his second children’s book, Boogie Boogie Y’all which will celebrate the Bronx and its street art culture.

Space to Connect Programming
As part of Chashama’s Bronx Space to Connect program, Charles Esperanza has taught a wide variety of classes including a Portraits & Landscapes class for seniors and mural class for youth.  The community mural at the West Farm’s community center was unveiled in 2018 and his second community mural at 2323 Walton Ave. is projected to be completed in 2020.
