Ritual is everyday. Sometimes, the most powerful rituals happen over a long period of time, with no clear beginning, middle and end. In "Witch Bones," Alexander D’Agostino presents an ongoing ritual of magic, dance, and movement research along with artists Noelle Tolbert and Porter Montana. Viewing durational work as an archeological dig for new movements and actions, "Witch Bone"s conjures and invents a story of a Witch and the magic she performs with her animals and the bones they gather. People passing by during the performances will be invited to participate and assist in the strange rituals involving animal bones, branches, and massive amounts of paper. Events and actions will be spontaneous and durational. In the spirit of the now, specific details regarding times for performances, rituals, and events will be posted on a Facebook page. This will encourage more authentic and unexpected performances. It is the intention of this ritual to present the audience/participants with situations and events that ignite their own imagination and myth-making. The performance is mercurial and ongoing. What are the bones? Who is the Witch? How do we discover meanings and invent narratives in the mysterious and abstract?
