Osmeli Delgado's meditative work speaks, quite literally, to the human heart. The symbolism and focus of her drawings, canvas, and sculptures throb with a collective intelligence for the humanity of the culture she has left behind, Venezuela. Each heart reflects a journey, a transformation, a separation from something dear to her. In these works Delgado synthesizes the essence of the human spirit in a visceral and contemplative language, reducing the entire world of objects into the symbol of the heart. Often abstracted, with formal and conceptual bravura, Delgado's hearts speak to the Latin who is lost in the New World, and to the despair and the poverty of the country she mourns.
