Vantage Point
Lacey Kim

The lobby of 1133 Avenue of the Americas showcases artist Lacey Kim’s newest works, engaging a midtown audience with the “subtle yet infinitely affirming quality of abstract painting” as an exploration of internal, unconscious reality. Lacey’s gestural exploration of oil paint on canvas expresses freedom, outward expansion, and infinite possibility. Viewers are encouraged to expand their vision of themselves and their internal realities through an exploration of the intricate relationships between the real, relative, bound, and unbound nature of the shapes she creates. Each painting reflects an experience within a captured moment, seeking to provide a window for the viewer to enter into a realm of connection with their inner reality.

About the Artist
Lacey Kim is internationally known for her non-representational style, cultivated in conjunction with her own personal philosophy. Citing Zen practices and philosophy as a major source of personal and artistic inspiration, Lacey’s work stems from the directness with which she both paints and lives her everyday life. Born and raised in South Korea, Lacey received her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Seoul Women’s University in 2003. She then moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her MA at Nottingham Trent University (2007) and received her MFA in 2009 from Pratt Institute in New York City. Currently based in New York, Lacey has lived and worked on three continents, and her works have been exhibited internationally in cities such as New York, Chicago, Miami, Vienna, Beijing, and Seoul.
