The Super Defense Force vs The Tittanno Beasts is a collaborative multimedia performance involving monsters and robots in conflict in scale model city sets, which are all created from cardboard and recycled materials. The performances are accompanied by live experimental music and video projections that often includes stop motion animation. The project takes inspiration from Japanese giant monster movies and robot animation to create a narrative that explores issues of militarism, terrorism, and class disparities. The project is intended to evoke various responses depending on the viewer, ranging from awe to absurdity.
The installation will be fluid and interactive. The artist will be adding and subtracting various components for the duration of the installation, so that it changes and evolves. Children and those interested, will be invited to interact with the city set and cardboard robot creations.
