Intertwined with the attractive public space at the Urban Garden Room in 1 Bryant Park, the narrative will unfold while people go about their business or stop to take in the action.The movement of the piece is informed by ballet and flamenco, while the costumes are inspired by Greek art and Kabuki theater. Five dancers/actors will take on the roles of an infamous royal family in the midst of tremendous discord that has a terrible outcome.
About the Artists:stringdance+media’s mission is to create visual art pieces that investigate the human condition by examining philosophical, historical and formal ideas. stringdance+media invites collaboration with painters and sculptors as well the construction of elaborate costumes and props in the creation of both physical art pieces and time-based works for film or performance. Ballet-based dances, narrative threads, and figures placed in unusual surroundings are united in videos, photographs and dance-theater pieces.
