The Power of Emotion is a new theatre piece about affect, emotion, and performance. This piece, which includes a new text by Shonni Enelow, is the result of a workshop led by Brook and Enelow at chashama's Summer Performance Residency, the goal of which was to explore modes of acting that incite and estrange unusual expression on the stage.
Sources include Alexander Kluge's 1982 film The Power of Emotion, from which the project takes its name, and a variety of acting manuals and textbooks from the 19th century to the present.
This work-in-progress presentation will be held at 461 West 126th Street Chashama Space on Monday August 4th at 6pm and 8pm, and will feature Jess Barbagallo, Nikki Cologne, Katiana Rangel, Lucia Roderique, Alex Spieth, and Monica Wyche.
