The Gay Men Project is a documentary photo project by New York based photographer Kevin Truong. Since 2012, Truong has documented the lives of over seven hundred gay men through photography and film, across thirty-seven countries and six continents. Subjects for the project have ranged from the first openly gay member of Congress in Peru, HIV outreach workers living in the townships of South Africa, to a retired member of the Australian High Court. Truong's aim is to create a platform and a resource, a place where these stories can be shared and told, through an online archive as well as shows and exhibitions.

About the Artist
Born in a refugee camp for Vietnamese boat people in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1982, Kevin Truong immigrated with his family to the United States the following year. Earning his first Bachelor’s degree in economics from Portland State University, he spent the next four years working in youth development programs for various non-profits in Oregon, southern California, New Orleans, and Belize before changing career paths and beginning a second education in the fine arts. Currently a photographer living and working in New York City, Kevin received his B.F.A. in photography from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He is the creator of the Gay Men Project.
