Walking through the city, where people gather, feels different day by day. The common scenery looks significant suddenly. The transition from regular routines to something amazing stems from one's memory. Memory allows us to experience narratives and to compare them to others; every single detail of everyday objects becomes significant. A little pebble on the street becomes great art.
Jungmin Park, an artist from Washington D.C., highlights everyday sight through communication with her own memory. Her paintings sometimes look childlike, and at other times skillful, depending on her mood that day or the scene she is working on. This variation in style conveys that time flows within us all. Her unique point of view is expressed with various media such as fabric or paper, torn roughly, cut sharply, or sewn with a needle and thread. Her collages give the illusion of three dimensions on a flat surface, and her layers of patchwork illustrate both timelessness and spacelessness. Her collage reminds the spectators allows viewers to walk through their own memories.
