Textured Vocabulary brings together artists reinterpreting and recycling found materials to build a vocabulary that is both deeply personal and abstract; creating strong abstracted expressions by reinterpreting the narrative of the material; moving away from the expected of recycled form and into a space that is clearly and purely the artists' own. Textured Vocabulary exhibits works made of reclaimed wood, second hand fabrics, found glass and grit, and even pieces of the city itself.
This chashama exhibition is funded, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
