August 28, 2014 - NEW YORK, NY - chashama is pleased to present art-a- porter, a group show highlighting a fusion of fashion, theater, performance and visual art. Scheduled to take place over a period of six days during New York Fashion Week, 50+ artists will be presenting multi-media presentations in two locations in Times Square.
Daytime performances from 4:30 - 8 pm will take place in Anita’s Way – the permanent public plaza under the Condé Nast building –presenting a series of multi-dimensional visual and aural installations by a diverse group of established and unknown artists.
Evening performance will be held in the Urban Garden, a glass atrium located on 6th Avenue and 43rd Street. Every evening between 8 and 11 pm a series of performances and installations ranging from a Surrealist dinner to kaleidoscopic tableau vivants will inspire the imagination and celebrate the diversity, imagination and energy of New York City’s thriving underground culture.
More movement than museum and using the body as a canvas, art-a-porter showcases new ideas coming from the city’s avant-garde scene. Each of the artists participating in the show epitomize the groundbreaking innovation thriving in today’s underground culture.
Working in collaboration with chashama's venue and with sponsorship from MAC Cosmetics, art-a-porter showcases the symbiotic relationship between art, fashion and performance.
