You love giving gifts but you hate getting them.
You rant about the manic messages of self-love and rapid weight loss in magazines, but you only date fit, attractive people.
You’re married but you don’t know if you believe in marriage.
You said you would never work for the man, but you just took a job at an institution, fighting the fight on the wrong side.
You are shy and reserved—and always the one who ends the night dancing drunk on the table.
What’s more real: your beliefs or your actions? Through performances created by the ensemble and a community-generated art installation, Yinzerspielen celebrates the contradictions in all of us.
Yinzerspielen is a performance collective with the mission of bringing people together to collectively imagine and rehearse new ways of being.
How we do it:
Live Performance: We produce original, audience-interactive, multimedia performances in unusual spaces.
Collaboration: We explore forms of creating and conversing that ignore, complicate, or contradict conventional theater hierarchies by working with artists and non-artists in many disciplines and by giving all collaborators equal voice and responsibility in the rehearsal room.
Think-Tank: We develop projects that don’t have public performance as an end goal, but instead act as a platform for creative conversation and performance as research.
stuck but can’t shut up (-__-) artists: Patrick Berger, Cory Tamler, Leah Bastacky, Rebecca Behrens, Veronica Cooper, Janine Cunningham, Amy Ingram, Daphne Macy.
