Smoke Signals
By Dennis Darkeem

An installation at chashama 443
443 West 127th Street
Second Floor Windows
New York, NY

Part of the Harlem Art Factory Fest (HAFF) 2013

October 11th - 13th, 2013

The work "Smoke Signals" echoes the Native American custom where the smoke from a fire was used to bring community and tribes together. Using fabric to represent the flames in this tradition of bringing community together, Darkeem pays homage to Native Americans in the Harlem area.
