Set Down Your Mantle & Other Dances is a collection of recent modern dance work by choreographer Katelyn Halpern.

In the First Place...makes a dance of the semi-automatic motions and tasks that precede a performance. This task-based work includes periods of warming up, improvising, and spacingall made open and put on view.

Set Down Your Mantle is a five-part journey into the wilderness of letting go. Beautifully danced by Louise Benkelman and Bridget Grissom, this nuanced work shows a mythic “ur-character” in the midst of a dutiful struggle. Interrupted from her efforts, she undergoes a tender conversion that leaves her far from where she began. Set Down Your Mantle has been adapted for the through-block stage at Anita's Way.

The bright, comedically off-beat Duet with Drum Solo riffs on friendly (and not-so-friendly) competition between perfectly matched partners. Performed in the 42nd street window box, run-time is approximately 5 minutes.
