sequins finds the strength and boldness of quiet performance in the midst of Times Square’s traffic and commercial business. Four dancers anchor themselves in an awareness of their own experience and move through a performance score. Alongside the everyday, presenting an alternative way of being in the space, the dance complicates the existing architecture and makes visible some of the assumptions behind its common uses and present social behaviors.
These performances are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
