Artist Statement:
My interest in the intersection of painting and architecture comes out of my interest in building and structure. Study of the monumental murals in the medieval churches of the Republic of Georgia has given me the impetus to attempt projects like this. I integrate color and line in an emotional response to materials and site.
These pieces are very loosely organized based on color theory, with 12 pieces total: three in each window section, and three of each color starting from red and going through to purple on the color scale.
The winter days during which I have been worked on this project have been cold and gray. Gray, the vast array of value in black and white, can be seen in terms of color. Hopefully, passersby will stop and become more aware of this site through these drawings.
