Carl Mehrbach
About the Artist
Carl Mehrbach began his college education as a scientist; he dropped out of a PhD program in Oceanography to pursue painting. Mehrbach moved to New York City to study at Art Students League of New York with Bruce Dorfman. Dorfman introduced Mehrbach to the painter Seymour Leichman, with whom he apprenticed for four years. Later, Mehrbach studied with Philip Guston at Boston University, where he received his MFA in painting.
Carl Mehrbach has had many exhibitions and numerous reviews of his work. His high regard for drawing as intrinsic to excellence in painting has made him a constant draftsman, producing new drawings daily. There are two ways to understand Mehrbach’s activities as artist and as exhibitor: his Daily Art Blog, and his website. At MEHRBACH.com you can see a listing of his exhibitions, reviews of his art, a pictorial history of Mehrbach’s work, and much more.
In 2019, Mehrbach will have solo shows at Bromfield Gallery in Boston, and AVA Gallery in New Hampshire.
