Empowering, inspiring and healing through art is a passion of Marcela Carvalho. She designed this unique workshop focusing on Self. Using a variety of materials for texture and colors, she guides students to seeing their unique talent, to connect with their Self, and to imagine and visualize. She assists in the emotionally challenging process of creating a unique piece of art. Marcela inspires and teaches in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Come enjoy yourself while creating a piece of art.
Artist Bio:
Marcela was born in Minais Gerais, Brazil where her ability in portraying emotion through visual art emerged. She moved to New York City in 1986 to study piano at the Manhattan School of Music and painting at the Art Student's League. From 1993 to 1996, Marcela managed The Clay Hand Gallery and taught ceramics to adults and children. Her work was featured in the gift shop of the Museo Del Barrio of New York City. She has written and illustrated three books for children. Marcela lives and works in NYC and can often be found working in her studio in Harlem. In her workshops she employs the use of visual art, music, ceramics and creative writing with the specific intent of helping to raise self-esteem amongst youth, women, and to help in the recovery process for victims of domestic violence.
Price: $35 per session or $65 per 2 sessions.
