Through her art making, she examines the daily routine. She actively changes her perspective on the mundane, repetitive, and ordinary goings-on of the everyday and transforms ordinaries to extra ordinaries. Transformation is at the heart of this investigation.

Jihyun Hong looks for harmonies between objects. Color and form are determining factors in her selection process. Typically she chose things that are representative of American fantasies she had in her childhood. Color and candy were significant aspects of her youth, specifically the synthetic colors found in American sweets.
