Explore finished art and works-in-progress, then take advantage of a FREE tour of the Brooklyn Army Terminal Atrium, brought to you by Turnstile Tours! Tours are 45 minutes and leave from the lobby of Building B, every hour on the hour.
chashama and the NYC Economic Development Corporation invite the greater New York City area to visit chashama's largest subsidized Workspace Program located at the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. Spread across two adjacent buildings and situated along Brooklyn's waterfront in the Sunset Park neighborhood, the studio artists at BAT include painters, sculptors, photographers, and experimental mixed media artists. In addition to Open Studios, chashama offers the studio artists monthly curator visits, an online registry, professional development workshops, and access to Materials for the Arts. Studios range in size from under 200 square feet to over 400 square feet, and are rented to participating artists at $1.07 per square foot.

chashama’s Workspace Program gives visual and performing artists access to studio and rehearsal space within a supportive environment. By also providing financial support, professional development workshops, and visiting curator opportunities, we deeply invest in giving each of our artists the chance to succeed. With 126 artists, our Workspace Program is one of the largest studio residency programs in New York City.

Currently, chashama manages over 126 artist studios, six galleries, five curated office lobbies, two performance venues, and provides affordable artist housing. A connector of art and real estate since 1995, chashama has placed more than 12,000 artists into 80 revitalized spaces and presented over 2,500 free events across New York City.
