"Open Rehearsal - 13 Moves” is a modern-dance movement exploration put on public view. During the rehearsal, dancers will learn, manipulate, and thoroughly investigate a short solo phrase consisting of 13 moves. Throughout their exploration, dancers will find points of connection and contact with each other and the accidental audiences they find on the street or sidewalk. This experimental rehearsal structure will draw on post-modern dance aesthetics and philosophy while putting the creative process on full display.
About the Artist:
Katelyn Halpern is an independent dance artist making work from gesture, limitation, and literature. Current projects include the ongoing interactive public art installation series Do a Dance! and the bi-coastal piano-dance duo K A T E S. Ms. Halpern’s work has been featured at festivals across the country, including Dance Conversations at The Flea Theater and Omaha Under the Radar in Omaha, Nebraska; at Princeton University, the University of Houston, and Rice University; and in parks, on sidewalks, and on rooftops.
