Of The Sea
Alberte Bernier

Alberte Bernier’s Of The Sea is a culmination of the artist’s fascination with the ocean as both an ecological life source and a subject of puzzling beauty. The exhibition comprises a combination of mixed media work and panoramic landscape paintings. Many of the materials featured are gathered from walks along the seashore, and include driftwood, nets, ropes and stones set on painted boards and canvas.

About the Artist
Alberte Bernier is a visual artist who lives in New York City. Her art pieces are set in color contrasts that infuse intensity and tone. They display a backdrop of multi-layered hues that reflect the human experience, evoking emotion and fantasy. She is inspired by the earth and the sea and by the amazing varieties of colors that cross her eyes during her travels. She uses various media—oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastel—that create scenes where symbolism, expression and rhythm intersperse. She also creates mixed-media pieces in a broad spectrum of sizes and subjects from nature’s ecological components to cultural issues.

Alberte is an artist in residence at Chashama. She has exhibited at the New York State Museum, Albany; Harlem Arts Alliance, NYC; The Galleries at The Interchurch Center, NYC; The Herb & Milly Iris Gallery At South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), NJ. More recently, her work has frequently been exhibited at Ceres Gallery, NYC, the Drawing Room, NJ and Pleiades Gallery, NYC.
