Artists' Biographies:

Leigh Ferst:

The landscape paintings of Leigh Ferst, a chashama artist, include abstractions in oil and acrylic on canvas, as well as vibrant watercolors painted while traveling. Her paintings capture her energy through vivid color combinations derived chiefly from the natural environment. Her favorite geographies include the mountains and the sea. Her inspiration comes from many other artists including Abstract Expressionists and landscape painters throughout history. Leigh’s work has been exhibited in venues in the New York area including The Phyllis Harriman Gallery, AT Kearney, The Conference Board, The Manhattan Borough President’s Office, and Partners International.

Elizabeth Tisdale:
The work Elizabeth Tisdale is engaged in is not only figurative but at times, narrative. There are people, places and things in her work that are being rescued from impermanence. There are animals in them that are passing from our lives. There are buildings in them that have a grandeur of disuse and ruin. There are social mores and rituals that are lapsing into obscurity; myths retold in 21st century parlance, geishas and racehorses and sad clowns.  There are people in them that hung the moon for her, for most of her life, who  proved as impermanent as  balloon  animals at a birthday party. There are fragments of references to advertisement and mass media in her painting, and usually a jet spewing chemtrails somewhere in the sky of an outdoor scene, as a post-millennial time stamp on the picture plane.
