About the Choreographer
A Ukrainian native, Karina Roytman discovered her passion for dance in Columbus, OH, where she first received training. She went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Performance at Jacksonville University. After graduating Magna Cum Laude and being honored on the President’s List, Karina moved to New York City, where she has had the opportunity to work with numerous renowned choreographers, including David Parsons, Attila Csiki, Christian von Howard, and Jennifer Muller and was a "featured dancer" in Entertainment Weekly.
Currently a member of ELSCO Dance, a NYC based contemporary dance company under the direction of So You Think You Can Dance All-Star, Ellenore Scott; Karina also travels the country, setting choreography and teaching master classes. She works toward inspiring dancers to broaden their quality of movement, by giving them tools to improve their performance styles.
About the Company
Drift Dance Collective is a performance-based project, based out of Long Island City, that brings artistic dancers together from NYC's surrounding tri-state area and offers a supplemental training program for aspiring dancers as well as opportunities to be mentored by working professionals in the field. The artists share movement with a focus on performance and musicality. Beginning with a concept, their work's themes develop and deepen throughout their rehearsal process.
