If you were mayor of your city, what would you do to improve it?

Mayor of My City(MOMC), a competition founded in Paris in 2011, engages youth as citizens through Hip-Hop. Participants are asked to think like mayoral candidates—to develop a campaign that responds to the question, “If I were mayor of my city, what would I do to improve the lives of my fellow citizens?”

The time has come to elect three new Mayors of New York City!

Wednesday, April 13th, in the conclusion of MOMC's first annual New York City competition:
Six finalists will duke it out.

Hosted by Tasty Keish, Program Director of Bondfire Radio and host of TK in the AM and joined by two feature Hip-Hop artists: Hip-Hop artist/co-organizer of Mayor of My City NYC, James "SoSoon" Gantt  and Hip-Hop artist/spoken word poet, Li Pierre, the six youth finalists will rap their powerful "stump" speeches, addressing the social injustices which they perceive in their city and what they would like to do about them. Vote on which candidate you would like to be the "Mayor of [your] City"!

At stake for the mayoral candidates is an all-expense-paid trip to Paris, France in July!

Performances will run approximately from 4:30-5:30pm. New York City's new Mayors will be announced by 5:45pm.

Exercise your Right to Vote
Come hear the candidates give their "stump" raps and vote for your favorite candidate LIVE at Anita's Way!

Originally founded in Paris in 2011, the purpose of MOMC is to engage youth as citizens through Hip-Hop. Participants are asked to think like mayoral candidates, using their original rap lyrics to develop a campaign that expresses concern for one or several social justice issues to answer the central question, “If I were mayor of my city, what would I do to improve the lives of my fellow citizens? April 13th's event is the conclusion of the 1st annual New York City competition.
