Artist Statement:

I create my works through my life experience. Through every day life I have gotten impressions from people, nature and culture. My subjects come from the surroundings that make up my life. I paint, draw, and sculpt as my life goes on. Through my works, I show what I observe from my subject, how I interact, remember and understand it. It is not a matter of which medium I choose. It is matter of how I create. In the installation series “Colors,” I collaborate with twelve artists. In this series, the idea itself is the sculpture, in which twelve artists design and create works on top of an existing sculpture, copies of my self-portrait. I did not imagine beforehand what they were going to do, how they would create it, nor what would come out from their minds. This unexpectedness is itself one of my ideas and is a crucial part of my work. The life we live, every moment, is unpredictable. My thoughts come from my life. My piece is a tool with which to express these thoughts.
