The Love Show
Through the magic of a space grant from Chashama and a City Artist Corps Grant from New York Foundation for the Arts, The Love Show has once again transformed a former Mrs. Fields cookie shop in the Port Authority Bus Terminal into a pop-up theater and live arts event venue. As one of the city’s main entry points, and one that is located in the heart of The Theater District, the transportation hub is the ideal location for an experience that immediately immerses travelers in the arts culture of New York. The space is alive with The Love Show’s original dance and theater performances, and the company will also host other performance artists in the community, with artisanal pop-ups, and shows ranging from comedy to magic, puppetry, and live music.
About The Love Show
The Love Show is a theatrical dance company that combines cabaret, ballet, contemporary, rock, comedy, and theater into creative performances all over the world. TLS has entertained all audiences, rocking stages from The Brooklyn Museum to Shakespeare in The Park. The Love Show has been commissioned to perform original choreography for clients including Banksy, Veuve Clicquot, Vogue Magazine, and TNT Drama.
Previous Chashama residencies include, “Behind the Glass”, which brought light, art, dance and theater to both the performers and the public during a dark time in the Pandemic and resulted in mentions in TONY and AM New York, as well as a photo that was published in several international publications, including a spread in the Guardian about triumphs in the face of COVID from around the world, and the original “Port Authority Project”.
TLS has been featured in publications around the globe, and in TDF’s “Meet the Dance Company” video series. The New York Times sent a reporter to follow the troupe’s exploits on Bastille Day. TLS’s resume includes performances in five continents, a piece commissioned by The Public Theater for their run of “Twelfth Night” at the Delacorte Theater and dancing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
