The use of technology and LED light in our lives has become pervasive, from the devices we use every day to the lights we use to brighten our homes. These items are typically meant to convey some sort of status or to mimic previous technologies and for the most part remain inconspicuous. The designs of Justin Eastman attempt to marry these new led technologies to bring them to the forefront and display the unique light properties of these devices in unique and aesthetically pleasing ways, with the goal of creating beautiful art illuminated with graceful light.
About the Artist
Justin Eastman is formally educated as a computer scientist and engineer and has been a software developer for decades. While his formal education lies in the sciences, his passion is in the arts. He has brought electronics and software together to create visual art since the fall of 2010. The result of this combination creates art from light and motion that is visually organic and ever changing. It all started with the endeavor to create a large scale installation for Burning Man 2011, The Tunnel of Questionable Enlightenment. Many installations followed, but could only be experienced on a large scale for the limited time periods. This ultimately drove him to create smaller pieces that could be enjoyed in intimate spaces and experienced all year round. www.justineastman.com
