Philippe Halaburda

Philippe Halaburda is interested in the randomness of cities like NYC and their relationship to human experience. Based on emotions, feelings or memories from his direct experiences, his work delves into the complex undercurrents of intimate and collective relationships to the City. Halaburda’s abstract paintings engage with the urban environment and call upon emotional framework as a construct to bring the viewer inside his or her own subconscious. The result is always an expression of mental processes related to that exact instant, by creating a unique artistic topography: Geographic Abstraction.

About the Artist
Philippe Halaburda was born in France in 1972. He received his degree from the EDTA Sornas School, Paris in 1995. Halaburda lived and exhibited in Paris, Zurich and Berne (Switzerland) before spending 15 years in Aix-en-Provence developing his graphic art director activity as his personal artist career. He moved to New York in 2016, where he lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and works in the artist community of Bushwick at 56 Bogart Street, Brooklyn USA.

Halaburda’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited throughout the US, in Canada, Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium) and Australia. He was a guest resident of the Villa Baulieu Workshop in Aix-en-Provence between 2008. His work is in the collections of corporate and non-profit institutions, including the Radar (Bayeux, France), Draguignan Permanent Art Collection (Draguignan, France) and the Villa Baulieu Art Collection (Aix-en-Provence, France), as well as in private collections in the United States, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, The Netherlands and China.
