Fred Bendheim: With Special Guests, Miriam Ancis, Howard Kalish and Jim Osman is a large and visually dynamic exhibition by the prolific New York-based artist Fred Bendheim, known for his colorful shaped wall works. This exhibition presents the artist’s most recent explorations in the realms of color, shape, form and feeling. The show also includes additional pieces by sculptors Miriam AncisHoward Kalish and Jim Osman.

About the Artist
Fred Bendheim was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in 1956. As a teenager, he apprenticed with the modernist painter Philip Curtis. He attended the University of California, Davis, and graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. cum laude. Bendheim has lived and worked in Brooklyn, NY since 1983, maintaining a studio in Sunset Park and exhibiting extensively. He is a teaching artist at The Art Students League and other schools throughout NYC. As well as painting, Bendheim has made drawings, prints, collages, sculpture, and illustrations. His art has taken the form of room-sized installations, billboards with children’s art, sculptures and fountains made with many materials, and he has written numerous articles about art for the British journal, The Lancet. Bendheim’s art has taken him throughout the world, including artist residences in Costa Rica and Berlin. Bendheim’s work is in collections world-wide, including The Museum of Arts and Design, New York; The Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey; The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Arizona; The National Museum of Costa Rica; The Neiman-Marcus Collection, New York;Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, Venice, Italy; The Plotkin Museum, Arizona; The Brooklyn Public Library, New York; Denise Bibro Fine Art, New York; Jason McCoy Gallery, New York; The Mayo Center for Humanities, Arizona; and Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles Airport, California. His paintings have been commissioned for some of the finest buildings in the world, and his sculpture commissions include two fountain sculptures for Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.

This is Bendheim’s second project with Chashama.
