Opening Reception: Monday September 10, 6-9pm

Focus: The Art of Service exhibits Konipol's photographs spanning the last five years which chronicle her work and relationships with New York City's social services community, from the city’s soup kitchens to Holocaust survivors in Brooklyn.

In 2001, Konipol started a nonprofit organization, NYNonProfit.com to combine her two passions - photography and social services. She photo-documented her work with the hopes of one day exhibiting it and promoting awareness of the issues many New Yorkers face day to day.

Nancy Konipol, born in Brooklyn, is a life-long New Yorker. Konipol was educated at Bard College in Hudson County, NY and the International Center of Photography in New York City. The subject of this exhibition is close to her heart – she has received awards for her work with New York City’s nonprofit community. Konipol has exhibited her works in many group exhibitions in New York City including New York on My Mind, women artists celebrating New York City, shown in the Manhattan Borough President’s office. Works by Nancy Konipol are in the Miriam and Ira D. Wallach permanent collection of the NYC Public Library, as part of the September 11 Photo Project and in the hardcover book of the same name. Konipol’s work has also been published in literary journals.
