Using painting and drawing as media expressive of the fluidity of identity, representation and abstraction flow together in Seth's work seamlessly intermingling in a state of constant flux. He explores both the terror and joy that come with identity's meltdown through images that hover between hallucination and careful formal abstraction.Though engaging in a visualization of intense subjective breakdown, his work maintains its technical rigor—presenting a persistent tension between control and chaos.
"Seth’s layered compositions seem to ebb towards something darker than the sea, shifting and flexing with figurative familiarities hauntingly appearing through their abstract veils and upon thought after viewing such things, one might ponder that the chaos which surrounds us is not unlike the beauty in Scantlen’s paintings."—Zach Tutor
