ChaNorth Alumni
A Selected Group Show, featuring the diverse work of alumni of the ChaNorth residency program.
The opening reception on Friday, October 25th will include Jonathan Sims’ An Invocation of Eighty-One Skies, an interactive performance from 6:30 – 7:30pm (or longer). This invocation will invite participants to interact with abstract form, themselves, and each other within a newly emerging and evolving form of divination called Eighty-One Skies. Jonathan Sims will facilitate an introduction to this cleromantic system, which uses dice to generate random numbers and translates them into universal themes.

About ChaNorth
ChaNorth, Chashama’s upstate artist residency, has been located in the Hudson Valley since 2006.
The ChaNorth residency offers an opportunity for 5-7 artists to work and live in the Hudson Valley for four weeks. ChaNorth accepts applications in all creative fields, including but not limited to visual arts, choreography, writing, music composition, and performance. National and international artists, emerging and mid-career artists are welcome to apply.
With the ChaNorth residency, artists have multiple opportunities to introduce, share work and network with others including 2-3 studio visits per session from critics, curators, gallerists, and residency directors. Previous studio visitors have included, Junho Lee founding director of the NARS Foundation, Yasmeen Siddiqui, independent curator, essayist, lecturer and founding director of Minerva Project, Will Hutnick, artist and curator residency director at the Wassaic Project.
Each year, ChaNorth invites a new cohort of jurors to review applications and make the recommendations for their finalists.
ChaNorth offers a fellowship award for young artists under 30, and a solo show award. ChaNorth provides the opportunity for artists to submit to their yearly selected group show. Both the solo show and yearly group show are presented at Chashama exhibition spaces in New York City.
