The late 19th Century Art movement, Symbolism is the inspiration for the Spring / Summer 2014 Arden Wohl x Cri de Coeur collection. It is the idea that art should represent absolute truths that can only be described indirectly. AW+CDC believe this undeniable truth is ethical consumerism, and attracting a new ideal not by persuasion, but through artistic expression. Creating products that are in favor of spirituality, imagination and dreams, as did the symbolist painter Gustav Klimt, we bring recognition to a new way of living that will permeate the fashion market.
The SS14 Collection nods specifically to Klimt's hidden eyes in Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, gold leaf techniques, and mosaic ornamentation and is a celebration of this artistic movement in history.
The term "symbolism" is derived from the Latin word symbolum, a symbol of faith, and symbolus, a sign of recognition.
We have that faith. We recognize that truth.

Cri De Coeur: Gina Ferraraccio & Julie Dicterow
Gina Ferraraccio and Julie Dicterow are downtown New York designers whose brand includes a women’s collection of shoes and accessories. Moving to New York City on separate paths to pursue the life as artists, their parallel lives, pursuit of sustainable style and love of animals finally brought them together as fashion soulmates.
Their collaboration began after their studies at Parson’s New School of Design to provide girls like them a vegan alternative to the leather and wool that permeates the fashion industry. Inspired by the music and art that pulses through the city, Gina and Julie strive to develop unique designs that embrace their ideals of the future of fashion.
Loyal fans include Anne Hathaway, Lake Bell, Emily Deschanel, Alicia Silverstone and Elle Fanning. In the four years since its inception, Cri de Coeur has received high praise including being named one of the top 10 eco-designers in the Huffington Post. Cri de Coeur offers what these girls do best – impeccable design that is cruelty-free from start to finish.
