Explorations is a solo exhibition of large works by Joseph Meloy.
Joseph Meloy’s work is an ongoing exploration in mark-making, and each piece is a transcription of a particular moment in time and space. As a visionary artist, Meloy’s source material tends to come from within, as he channels energy and inclination into visible notations, which coalesce into dynamic compositions that provide the viewer a chance to see the otherwise unseeable Improvisation is a key element, and while he is the one holding the implement, his belief is that ultimately, the art comes from a place beyond himself. Paint first, ask questions later. Then paint more.
Joseph Meloy (b. 1982) is a self-taught artist born and raised in New York City. His work has been exhibited at Galerie Protegé and The World Trade Gallery among others, as well as at the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea. His colorful, expressive murals can be found all around the city, most prominently at The World Trade Center.
