Dogs and People of New York highlights work from a series beginning in 2011. While living in Manhattan's East Village, Arthur Djoroukhain became fascinated with the neighborhood's residents and began using them in his paintings. The figures appear in rich, brilliant color, greatly contrasted against a stark, white background. The blankness of the canvas allows viewers to apply their own meaning and interpretation, removing the figure from the East Village and placing them anywhere.
