About Degrees of Freedom:
I've been working on a body of work that expresses my struggle when trying to fit the self in the world. I’m investigating the paths we take based on how we relate to other people and the choices we make in life. The reality of who we are versus the illusion of who we'd like to become, and a plan to escape this universe of hidden feelings are the visual translation of my thoughts, portrayed in this 3D drawing. Ideas of alternate dimensions and parallel universes, combined with psychology, lead me to an inward exploration, and its outcome is honest and necessary. It represents the self in space, our projections that deceive perception and how our decisions affect other people.
I’m concerned with questions that involve time, space, life and death. My research encompasses psychology, metaphysics and quantum mechanics. I often create geometric structures that are references to portals, which represent a gateway into parallel universes. My art plays with void versus solid, structure versus chaos, as well as illusion and scale, in hopes to give the observer a different perspective of the whole in relation to the self.
