Container
Abby Cheney

Container is an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Brooklyn-based artist Abby Cheney. Her works, made from recycled cardboard, paper pulp, and found materials, explore the power of common objects in our everyday lives and memories. Cheney draws inspiration from decorative trends and domestic spaces to create surfaces layered with pattern and texture. Through weaving paper and cardboard, she constructs precarious and humorous forms referencing materials found in the home. Container investigates how we use emotion to assign value to objects and spaces regardless of material worth.
