Since 1995, chashama has been providing artists with space to create. chashama adopts temporarily vacant properties that are donated by their owners and converts them into theaters, rehearsal rooms, visual artist studios, and storefront window performance stages. : chashama is the only not-for-profit that connects the robust real estate community with the needs of working artists.
In addition to its many spaces in New York City, chashama North is an artists residency program that provides living and working space to visual and performing artists in the Hudson Valley. In its third year, chashama North has provided residencies for 40 artists and theatre groups in beautiful Pine Plains, New York.
