Ceremony
No Box Movement

Ceremony (A Work in Progress) is a performance presented by the newly formed New York City-based dance company No Box Movement. The piece is inspired by company leader J9’s experience with psychedelics and thirst to learn more about their healing properties. J9 describes the performance by saying she was “called to do a show about the shapes she sees, the sounds she hears, and the ideologies presented when you are allowed down a new path of consciousness”. No Box Movement dance company uses styles such as Animation, Waving, Tutting, House, and other Street Styles to express and describe J9’s personal narrative. Collaborators Lorena Cobos’ and Stephanie Lim’s strong background in Contemporary and Modern dance have also inspired J9 to create this performance.
