Cats & Dogs
ABC No Rio
Cats and dogs are the most noted foes in the animal kingdom. From our living rooms to the golden age of cartoons, it is with few exceptions that cats and dogs are not at each other’s throats. We see this animal conflict as analogous to current divisions within our society. Cats & Dogs will reflect both the divide and the tension caused by our need for connection and our need to be “right.” We are social creatures yet we separate and categorize ourselves based largely on our belief systems. Looking at ourselves through our domesticated friends is an attempt to understand the tension of difference and coexistence.

About ABC No Rio
During the construction of their facility, ABC No Rio programs and operations are continuing “in exile” at other venues and in collaboration with other organizations. ABC No Rio in Exile provides a renewed and focused orientation towards collaborative work that brings us back to our roots — ABC No Rio was founded as a project of the 1970s artist group Collaborative Projects — and in “exile” ABC No Rio remains a “place” where people share resources and ideas in an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support.
