Bridging The Gap
The First International Ballroom Convention

March 29 –  April 5, 2014

461 West 126th Street
New York, NY

The First International Ballroom Convention is produced by Wolfgang Busch from the legendary House of Omni, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary and Art From The Heart. The convention includes panels, lectures, art exhibit, voguing live performances, screenings and photo opportunities with Ballroom celebrities. The Ballroom community originated in the 1960's and is best known for their "Drag Balls" by the House of Labeija and the "Voguing" dance by Willi Ninja and Jose Xtravaganza.

This free week long Ballroom convention for the community brings together the old school and new school generations, to close the gap between them through education.  The convention opens with a Red Carpet Party and continues with a one week long of lectures, exhibitions, panel discussions, seminars, screenings and live performances and closes with the 35th Anniversary Ball by the Iconic House of Ultra Omni.

The objectives of the convention are to provide much needed education to the Ballroom community about ballroom arts, economy and health, to start a much needed healing process and an empowerment movement for this marginalized, disenfranchised, under-served and under-funded ballroom community. We focus on issues that affect our community the most and we are providing a platform to bring like minded people together to reach that goal.
