The inaugural exhibit at 655 3rd Ave will be paintings by Jeramy Turner. chashama has been trying to have an exhibit of Ms. Turner's work for some time now. We are pleased and excited to present this artist in our newest mid-town Manhattan gallery.
In 1986, filmmaker Jeramy Turner began teaching herself to paint as a way to create films “one frame at a time.” Her paintings were (and still contain), political diatribes against American imperialism and the bourgeoisie. Fat, hairless, bald, very white men appear constantly in her paintings, as symbols of the ruling class.
Her work has been shown in New York, Chicago, Norway, Stockholm, Austria, Basel, Hamburg, and London.
She is represented in Austria by Nicholas Treadwell, and in New York by the Limner Gallery.
This exhibit is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
