Angels in the City is a solo show by Gustavo Fernandez. The show presents a new collection of works by Fernandez. He envisioned this show as a color tribute to NYC and to the people who have come to the city to chase their dreams full of enthusiasm and nostalgia. This exhibition includes more than 10 works exploring color, texture, shadow, and light.
About the Artist
Gustavo Fernandez (b. 1973, Latin America) is an expressionist/colorist now based in NYC. He describes his body of works as an explosion of color and texture. His abstract work is a product of a long period of development and evolvement of intense thoughts based on his 25 years of experience as a visual artist. Fernandez defines his work as a devotion to inner beauty, emotions expressed in colors, the fervor of spirit, and a spiritual desire for inner necessity. He defines himself as an artwork that never ends. He has previously shown his work around the world including Latin America, Miami, NYC, Spain, Seoul, and Beijing.

Join the exhibiting artist Gustavo Fernandez in an Introductory Abstract Painting workshop! He will be teaching the fundamentals of abstraction as well as demonstrating part of his artistic practice. This event is open to all ages and skillsets, all materials will be provided.

Live Painting and Performance

Singer-songwriter Carecuca will be performing original songs off of their debut EP “How to Break Your Own Heart” in addition to popular covers alongside producer Nathaniel Duverge. Throughout the night Gustavo will be working on a live painting where guests will be invited to contribute to its completion.

Chashama invites you to join us for “Being Free Within Me,” an open table discussion about Queer/LGBTQIA+ Identity.
Gustavo Fernandez will host an open-table discussion exploring the complexities of sexuality, gender identity, cultural and individual etiquette, the intersections of these identities, and how all of those impact our mental/social health. This is a safe space for people who identify as a part of the Queer/LGBTQIA+ community.
