Derived from advertisements, lifestyle icons, and commodified images of natural environments, Alternative Facts is a peek into a saccharine fantasy. Shiny objects of unclear function show off their curves on elegant pedestals while natural phenomena turn into items of lifestyle and décor--speaking to the beauty of technological advance and toxic waste.

The works featured in Alternative Facts are part of Vita Eruhimovitz's "Synthetic Landscapes" series. Through "Synthetic Landscapes," Eruhimovitz explores notions of contemporary consumer society. In this society, screens become windows into one’s world, a world designed to seduce and images of spaces and objects promise alternative realities, where all fantasies are fulfilled. Other items labeled as "news," "opinions," "evidence," and "facts" seduce intellectually and emotionally--convincing one that these alternative realities are meaningful, understandable, and possible to navigate.
